If you’ve seen my work before there is a good chance you have seen arrows depicted in it. I have a fascination with archery and have a tactile experience with the weapon as I have hunted with a bow and arrow during my time in the woods. More importantly than my own experience with bows and arrows is the universal impact of archery on the histories of all cultures. It is a weapon that has been used on every continent and it is for this reason that I often use it as a simple representation of war, conflict, or violence. It also has a classical look to it that works well with the hues of the coffee on the antique papers I paint on.
